The surprising Bulldogs prevail, 52-50, in college basketball's semi-finals. They will meet the winner of Saturday night's contest between Duke and West Virginia — but as luck would have it, the Final Four is being played in Butler's hometown, Indianapolis.
Gordon Hayward scored 19 points and collected the final rebound, sending the little school from Indianapolis to its biggest victory, a 52-50 win over Michigan State in the Final Four on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs now will play the winner of West Virginia-Duke for the national title on Monday night. In their hometown, no less.
Butler, playing just 5.6 miles from its campus, took down another of college basketball's biggest names, forcing the Spartans into a sloppy game and capitalizing on their injuries and foul trouble. The win extended Butler's nation's best winning streak to 25.
