Canton Baltimore Neighborhood
Canton is a neighborhood situated in Baltimore, Maryland, The neighborhood is positioned along Baltimore’s outer harbor in the southeastern division of the city. Canton Neighborhood History
The Canton neighborhood was urbanized from the plantation of seaman John O’Donnell in the late 1800s by his son Columbus O’Donnell, William Patterson, and Peter Cooper. The property was sold for mounting waterfront industrialized uses and homes to sustain blue collar workforce.
Throughout the early 1900s, European immigrants settled in the Canton neighborhood, the majority particularly were, Welsh, Irish, German and Polish.
