Blue Ocean Institute & Lindblad Expeditions have awarded their 2nd annual Kalpana Chawla Ocean Journey Scholarship to a 17-year-old student who emigrated from Vietnam to California, and a 16 year-old from New Jersey for selflessly supporting their communities’ environmental programs.17-year-old Khanh Nguyen of Lawndale, CA, who has actively volunteered at a non-profit coastal environmental education facility, and 16 year-old Delphine Slotten of Mendham, NJ, who started the first recycling program in her county, will embark on a Lindblad Expeditions’ voyage to the Galápagos Islands in July.

The American real estate market is going through one of the toughest periods. With the rise in unemployment, people are defaulting on loan payments. Subsequently, foreclosures are on the rise. In many areas, people are abandoning these foreclosed spaces in search of better lives elsewhere. Many areas, as a result, are in a mess with empty, ivy-covered homes in plenty. Now neighborhood associations are pooling in to give these decadent neighborhoods a facelift.

Finding a nursing home given the choice, most elders would prefer to continue to live in their own homes. Nursing home services provided in nursing homes include services of nurses, nursing aides and assistants; physical, occupational and speech therapists; social workers and recreational assistants; and room and board.
