If you’re looking for a place to move and don’t exactly know where to settle down yet, you may want to consider Idaho. According to a USAToday article, the state is flourishing at a rapid rate.

USAToday explains that Idaho has the country’s fastest growing economy and that the growth and expansion there is unprecedented. Many in “white-collar” professions are moving there due to the mild climate and scenery. Although “computer chips and potato chips” do big business in the state, the article points out that there is an extensive variety of industry present in Idaho, including everything from farming, to tourism to “amenities”. Room is made for all levels from corporate to mom-and-pop stores.

When it comes to homes in Idaho, the article mentions that there is usually a lot of land available, anywhere from 20 acres to 150 or more depending on what kind of residence you purchase. According to 2006 figures, the population has doubled leading to more housing and the transition of Idaho itself from rural state to gradually more urban. Suburbs are one of the fastest growing residential areas, usually near larger cities like Boise. However, USAToday states that Idaho is being cautious about its extensive boom in building; certain foothill areas and rural places have been marked as off limits. For now the state will be able to maintain some of its idyllic landscape. Other solutions are being implemented to resolve the need for new homes, such as the Harris Ranch being divided up for housing. Located in Boise and consisting of 1,297 acres, the article reports that the land, “one of the state’s most valuable pieces of real estate”, will be developed into “an upscale, eco-friendly” neighborhood. But not all 1,297 acres will be used: only 358 acres will be occupied by 2,800 residences, while the remainder of the land will be maintained as open space.
