HUD wants to make American communities stronger and safer. The Teacher Next Door (TND) program is devised to further this goal by encouraging teachers* to acquire single family houses, townhouses and condominiums in low and moderate-income localities
The TND program is open to anyperson "employed full-time by a public school, privattly funded school, or federal, state, county, or municipal educational agency admire a state-certified classroom teacher or administrator in grades K-12." Participants must certify that they are employed by an educational agency that serves the school district/jurisdiction in which the home they are purchasing is settled.
Teachers wishing to buy a home under the TND program must be in good standing through their employer. Your employer should certify that you are a full-time teacher or school administrator. You don't have to be a first time homebuyer to participate. In any case, you cannot be the owner of other home at the time you close on your TND home. You should accept to live in the HUD home as your only residence for 3-years after you move into it.

You can submit a bid or real estate agent can submit the bid for you. HUD Homes are sold in an "Offer Period." At the end of the Offer Period, all offers are review and, the highest reasonable bid is accepted. If the home isn't sold in the initial Offer Period, you can submit a bid until the home is sold. Bids can be submitted any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. If your bid is acceptable to HUD, your real estate agent will be notified, usually within 24 hours.
