Filings for distressed properties decline in Volusia Flagler, The number of new homes facing foreclosure each month in Volusia and Flagler counties continues to decline.
There were 180 new residential foreclosure case filings in May in Volusia County, according to the Volusia County Clerk of the Circuit Court office. That’s down 60 percent from the 449 cases filed in the same month a year ago. It’s also the lowest monthly total so far this year.
In Flagler County, 47 new residential foreclosure filings were recorded in May, according to the county’s clerk of the circuit court office. That’s down more than 43 percent from a year ago when 83 new cases were filed.
The drop in new foreclosure filings last month continues a trend of year-over-year declines that began in both counties in 2010 and accelerated last summer.
